A referral from your General Practitioner is important as it provides information about your medical history and also enables you to access the Medicare rebate for your consultation.

In general, referrals are valid for 12 months from GPs and 3 months from other specialists.

If something changes and you cannot make your appointment or test it is important that you contact us on 07 3007 9195, ideally at least 1 day prior. We will be happy to arrange a new date and notifying us help us schedule other patients who are awaiting care.

Echocardiogram

You will need to change into a gown for the procedure as the chest area needs to be accessible for echocardiography.

Stress Echocardiogram

Fast for 2 hours prior to the procedure. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for exercise. Take your regular medications unless instructed by your doctor, rate-slowing medicines such as beta-blockers may need to be withheld. Do not drink excess caffeine before the test. You will need to change into a gown for the procedure as the chest area needs to be accessible for ECG recording and echocardiography.

Holter Monitor and Event Monitor

Shower the morning of the test so the ECG dots can be applied to your chest. You are required to return the monitor the following day (or after 7 days for Event Monitoring).

24-Hour Blood Pressure Monitor

No specific preparation is required. A loose fitting shirt allowing the BP cuff to be applied is helpful. You are required to return the monitor the following day.

Our friendly admin staff will advise you about fees payable at the time of booking. We prefer payment via EFTPOS/Credit Card at the end of the consultation or test. Bulk-billing is generally not available at QHS but you may discuss this with your doctor.
