Dr Stephen Cox

I’m looking forward to my time at Queensland Heart Specialists. After many good years with my friends and colleagues at Heart Care Partners it was time to move on.

I finished my training in Interventional Cardiology at the Lahey Clinic, Boston, USA in the mid 1990’s and returned to Brisbane. A combination of private practice at The Wesley Hospital and a Senior Visiting Specialist at The Princess Alexandra Hospital have kept me up to date and on my toes.  A lot has changed but the fundamentals of good patient care haven’t.

My passion is improving my patient’s quality of life through the various tools available. Medications have come a long way to prevent and treat cardiovascular disease. Together with lifestyle modification our aim is to keep you doing the things you want to do. Sometimes that involves opening up heart arteries with stents, plugging holes in the heart and treating heart valve problems without the need for open-heart surgery. Our aim, my aim, is to give you the best care we can.

Being part of a team that can thoughtfully and expertly manage your care is important to me. I look forward to building on the past 25 years of experience and am grateful I will have the opportunity to do so.
